*** This is a Family Friendly Drag Racing Event. Race Days are a DRY EVENT!

No Alcohol Sales and No Alcohol on site. NO EXCEPTIONS, ZERO TOLERANCE. ***

There will be a basic TECH INSPECTION and TEST & TUNE on Friday May, 22nd. We recommend that all approved racers arrive early on Friday May 22nd in order to get through TECH in a timely manner.

 

Please ensure you have read the Racer Requirements listed below before submitting your Racer Entry!

All Racer submissions must be sent with the title "Racer Entry" and your Name to info@dogwooddustup.ca

Your Racer Entry MUST Include:

Full Name

Hometown

Vehicle Year, Make and Model

Engine and Displacement (if known)

Transmission

Racer Number Request

You MUST send photographs of your vehicle as part of your entry! The bare minimum should include one photo of the engine and a 3/4 view of your vehicle, more photographs is always better. The photographs you submit will be used to determine your approval to race, please provide clear photographs. If your car is a build in progress, don't despair! We encourage you to apply and submit photographs of its current progress, you could also include a photograph of another car that resembles your vision! We want to see them!

​Once you have been approved to race you will have to pay the racer fee and sign a liability waiver. Otherwise you will not be able to race!

 

Racer Fees are $175.00 CAD for one driver and one vehicle. This includes your own spot in the pits, Friday Test & Tune, Racing all day Saturday and Sunday.

Dogwood Dustup: Racer Requirements
                                                                                 

All OEM 1954 or older North American Flathead equipped cars, belly tanks and drag/rail cars are welcome and encouraged to apply for race approval! Since we are trying to emulate a 1940’s - 1950’s period correct drag race no rat rods or art cars please.

 

Engine:

Any North American made 1954 or older Flathead Engine.

 

Fuel:

Gasoline Only.

 

Speed Equipment:

All period correct speed equipment is welcomed and encouraged, this includes OHV Conversions, Superchargers and Fuel Injection. No Modern Equipment or EFI.

 

Drivetrain and Running Gear:

1954 or older. Exceptions will be made for cars running later T5 or C4 transmissions, however (depending on car count) you will be in your own class during eliminations or restricted to third gear.

 

Carburation:

You may run Single, 2 barrel or 4 barrel carbs in any combination.

Ignition:

All Distributor manufacturers of the time period are acceptable including electronic ignition and electronic conversions. Stromberg E-fire or FSI Distributors are also acceptable.

 

Charging:

Generators and Idlers of the time period. 12 Volt generator conversions and Power Master “Generator Look” alternators are acceptable. No modern alternators.

 

Wheels, Tires and Brakes:

Wheels must be original steel or wire wheels. Bias Ply or Bias Ply looking tires. Race cars must have brakes on all four corners in good working condition.

 

Paint:

Paint jobs must emulate the time period and can be new paint, old paint, patina or primer. No vinyl graphics and we ask that you don’t have any advertising or sponsors on your car without written consent. Racer numbers must be displayed on both sides of the vehicle in paint, tape or shoe polish. No more than 3 numbers allowed. If you would like a specific number, please include it in your racer application and we will do our best to accommodate you. The race number for your vehicle will be included with your notice of race approval at which time you may add the number to your vehicle.

 

General Requirements:

A DOT or SNELL approved helmet is required for each person in the vehicle.

 

A seatbelt is required for all occupants. You may use a 5 point harness if you wish, please use either black or green with the modern tags removed.

 

A coolant catch can is required.

 

A working Fire Extinguisher is required and within reach of the driver. 

 

Battery hold downs are required.

 

A roll bar is recommended for open top cars, but it is not required. No roll cages.

 

During the race headlights must be taped. If you wish to remove your headlights or windshield for a more period correct look, we encourage this however it is not required.

Rail and Drag Entries:

Chassis must be a stock Model A or T frame. Frames may be shortened from stock but not lengthened. No tube or custom chassis's, exceptions can be made for homemade tube/early original tube frames on a case by case basis.

 

Wheelbase and axle locations may be altered as desired. 

Rail or Drag cars may have a firewall and partial cowl but otherwise must have no body panels or fenders.

A roll bar is required for rail/drag class and must be 2-3" above the head of the driver when seated. Roll bars must be made of round or square tubing, no roll cages and no roll bars made from exhaust tube.

A 5 point harness is required for rail/drag class. Please use either black or green with all modern tags removed.

All other racer requirements listed above apply.

Flathead 4 Engine Class:

All entries will be considered from stock to hopped up.

Flathead 6 Engine Class:

All entries will be considered from stock to hopped up. 

Flathead V8 Engine Class:

All entries will be considered from stock to hopped up.

Flathead Straight 8 Engine Class:

All entries will be considered from stock to hopped up.

Flathead V12 Engine Class:

All entries will be considered from stock to hopped up.

Grudge Matches:

RACE FOR FUN, RACE YOUR FRIENDS, MOST LAPS, BANGER vs V8, RAIL vs FULL FENDER, STRAIGHT 6 vs V12 you get the idea, anything goes!!

Elimination Racing:

Heads Up Racing by Engine Class only! One Run! Winner returns to staging to race again, loser returns to the pits. Each Engine Class will run until there is one winner. No awards for second or third place. Fastest Car Wins!
